Eclectus Parrots

(E. roratus solomenensis)

 

As with all eclectus parrots males are emerald green and the females

red and purple. 

Adult Size:  12 -13in

Noise Level:  Consider to be a relatively quiet parrot.

Activity Level:  Calm, gentle with toys.  These birds show a tendency to day dream, they should not be startled and will do best in a calm household. 

Talking Ability:  some are shy infrequent talkers, others may develop extensive vocabularies.

Housing Requirements:  Min, 24D x 36W x 36H

Personality:   Sensitive birds that do not thrive in a chaotic environment. Males are calm and easy going.  Females will aggressively defend anything they might consider a nest including a carrier, a box, under the bed etc. even the cage. Manage this by regular exposure to these conditions during adolescence and awareness when she reaches adulthood.

Umbrella Cockatoo

( Cacatua alba )

Adult Size:  16 to 18in. / 40 to 50cm.

Noise Level:  Can be loud.

Activity Level:  Moderate

Talking Ability:  Good

Housing Requirements:  Min, 24D x 36W x 54H

Personality:   Highly intelligent, will easily learn many tricks. Extremely lovable, they maintain a close bond with their human companion. Gentle as they are they require discipline, Be sure not to reinforce any negative behaviors.

Rose-Brested

Cockatoo

(Elopholus roseicapillus)

Adult Size:  13.5 “ 35cm

Noise Level:  Relatively quiet cockatoo .

Activity Level:  Active, highly intelligent and will solicit your attention.

Talking Ability:  Not among the best talkers

Housing Requirements:  24W 36L 36H  will spend time at the bottom of the enclosure.

Personality:  Outgoing, extroverted and enchanting.

These little cockatoos exhibit some of the most intelligent behavior

 of the entire parrot family.
